This is our most recent featured project, a duplex, built from start to finish, including pictures and descriptions of the work.
Step 1: Basement Excavation
With a high local water table, we opted to excavate four feet below existing grade for the basement.

Step 2: Footing form work
Hand digging point load footings.

Step 3: Prepping for footing cast
We opted for an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) for the basement walls. To provide structural integrity, a Structural Engineering specified re-bar and a widen footing for the project.

Step 4: ICF and bracing
ICF walls braced and ready for concrete.

Step 5: Basement Slab
All hands on deck. We brought in some extra labour for this one.

Step 6: Knee wall
Knee wall installed to achieve full height in the basement.

Step 7: Walls and trusses up
Framing! That was a lot of lumber!

Step 8: Mechanical
We built this one for ourselves, so we completed the electrical and plumbing ourselves.

Step 9: Exterior finish
We opted to use horizontal vinyl siding.

Step 10: Interior finish
The lower unit kitchen is completed.
